Our Subarus (all filled with AMSOIL!) |
Piedmont Synthetic Lubricants LLC, is an independent AMSOIL Dealership owned by me (Greg) and my wife (Debbie). I'm an Air Force veteran, having spent 25 years as an Air Force Judge Advocate. Originally from Illinois, we now live in Statesville, North Carolina having moved here from our last Air Force assignment in Oklahoma to take a job in the legal department at the Lowe's headquarters in Mooresville where I worked on government contracts. Although I enjoyed my government contracting work, I was looking for something completely different that would allow me to (1) get out of an office (believe it or not, the practice of law is not as exciting as you see on TV) and (2) work for myself. We explored franchising opportunities but were not willing to risk our savings in an economy that may or may not be improving. I had been an AMSOIL Dealer for some time so that is where we turned our attention.
As you can tell by the picture, we love our cars. I'm pretty much a shade tree mechanic but I've always believed in not paying people to do things that I could do myself (some might call that being cheap). I also believe in making sure that things are done right and if something gets messed up, then I only have myself to blame (my incentive to not mess things up). And I take great pride in saying that I've done something myself. So I mow my lawn, trim bushes, fix "stuff" around the house, perform maintenance on the cars and equipment and basically do whatever Debbie tells me to do.
Our AMSOIL story: Back in 1993 an AMSOIL dealer friend of ours and I converted our 1983 Toyota Celica (which we bought new before joining the Air Force) from conventional motor oil to AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. We changed engine oil and the manual transmission and rear differential gear lubes. As I drove home I was amazed. Although the car had always run well, it ran smoother, had more power, ran cooler (the temperature gauge was visibly lower) and it shifted like butter. From that point on, I was hooked and we became AMSOIL dealers just so we could order the products at wholesale prices. Although we never contemplated selling the products since I was busy with my Air Force career, it remained a possibility.
Like many families, as both we and the kids got older our vehicle fleet expanded and now includes mostly Subarus which we love for their practicality and ability to go anywhere. All of our cars (and truck) use AMSOIL. AMSOIL really does save us lots of money and (me) lots of time. We use AMSOIL Signature Series motor oils which allow for 25,000 mile/1 year drain intervals. Since we never really drive that many miles in one vehicle, as a practical matter I change the oil/filters once a year. All of our lawn and garden equipment also uses AMSOIL, which, as you will see in our equipment-related blog posts, makes our equipment run better and last forever.
We are believers in AMSOIL products having used them for the past 20+ years. It was therefore a natural fit when looking for a sound business opportunity to look to AMSOIL. What could be be better: promoting products that we are familiar with and truly believe in, while at the same time helping individuals and businesses save time and money with AMSOIL just as we have over the years. The environmental benefits that come through use of the products is just an added bonus. Even better, we don't have to worry about franchise and other fees, only the expenses of running a home-based business. Finally, we are secure in the knowledge that AMSOIL is an outstanding company with integrity and a total dedication to quality. We are excited about the opportunities that AMSOIL offers and are on our way to building a successful AMSOIL business.
By the way, we still have the 1983 Celica:
